DID YOU KNOW. every week new news, post stories, and look at adorable pictures of cats and dogs. In downtown New York a dog and a cat befriend each other sharing the same story. They did not have owners and were sick but we took them in at our shelter and nurtured them back to health. Now they are our mascots and show us that everyone can work together no matter the cause.

An estimated 70 million dogs and cats are homeless so taking a dog or a cat to the shelter is good.
Approximately 4.1 million shelter animals are adopted each year (2 million dogs and 2.1 million cats). 2. About 810,000 animals who enter shelters as strays are returned to their owners. Of those, 710,000 are dogs and 100,000 are cats.
The number of cats and dogs entering shelters annually is down significantly from 20+ million in 1973.
