New Mexico is very polluted, in 2023 New Mexico was ranked 3rd for the most levels of chemicals that are toxic. The air and water quality brings the states from bottom to third of the ranks.

New Mexico has a lot of pollutants and the biggest one is carbon monoxide which has 114.5 ug/m3. This shows that pollution is serious in Albuquerque and we need to fix it.

New Mexico produces a lot of pollution but did you know that New Mexico is the second largest oil production state in the U.S. People who live close to the oil production have a bad environment that they live in.
