Sad Facts About Hunger
22% of kids are hunger insecure in New Mexico Compared to 18.5% nationally, as well as 15.2% of adults in NM compared to 13.5% nationally.
In New Mexico, 321,370 people are facing hunger, and of them 100,420 are children, with them being 1 in 7 adults and 1 in 5 children.
For hunger insecure children in NM, children skip about 44% of meals monthly, more than 1/3 of the students reported having to choose between paying bills or getting groceries at least once, and 1 in 5 students reported that hunger regularly affected their grades or ability to concentrate.
