White moves first, and each color has 16 pieces: 8 pawns, 2 rooks, 2 knights, 2 bishops, 1 queen, and 1 king. It requires a time control, and it has algebraic notation. The main goal is to checkmate your opponent's king by trapping it with check. Each piece moves differently and controls a different amount of squares, except for the same piece.
