WWII
The first battle of World War II was when Nazi Germany invaded Poland. The War started because the First World War. The people of postwar Germany were disgruntled because the first war cost them a lot of money and land. Major World War II events include the 1939 German invasion of Poland (starting the war), the 1941 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor (bringing the US into the war), pivotal battles like Midway, Stalingrad, and D-Day (turning points), the systematic Holocaust by Nazis, and the 1945 atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, leading to Japan's surrender and the war's end.
The weapons used in previous wars were no match for the new technologies obtained in the 2nd World War. For instance, Germany invented the first fighter jet. The United States created the atomic bomb.
