Some shelters kill dogs due to adoptability problems, basically when an animal doesn’t get adopted, they can’t keep them at the shelter forever. Therefore, they kill the animal, and A lot of the time, shelters kill old and or sick animals.

Kill shelters will take any animal, but they will kill them. Sometimes, they aren’t sick, old, nor behave badly, but they could still be euthanized in a kill shelter.

In 2019, 625,000 shelter animals were euthanized. The first city to be no-kill was San Francisco in 1994 and the first No-Kill state was Delaware. One of the main reasons that animals are euthanized is due to overpopulation.
